Toys For Turkey

The Shipyard Brew Haus's annual Toys For Turkey collection is back and we're collecting brand new toys to donate to the local Kingfield Giving Tree - a cool nonprofit organization that supplies area families with toys during the busy Christmas season. Thanksgiving Dinner at the Shipyard will be half off for those who donate a new toy to the cause! Enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner with Turkey, Pork, Ham, Traditional Side Dishes and delicious desserts. $22 Adults ($11 with toy); $16 Children 12 and under ($8 with toy).

Blessing of the Skis

A special on-hill service provided by Sugarloaf Area Christian Ministry, Revs. Pam & Earle Morse, invites you to bring your skis and snowboards as we seek a blessing of safety upon all who come to the mountain this winter season. A panel of judges will be presenting awards for the following categories: oldest pair of skis, oldest and youngest skier/rider, largest family group, most decked out snowboard, and ugliest skis/board. Following the Blessing there will be a cookout for attendees with hamburgers, hotdogs, whoopie pies and drinks. An $8 donation for the Sugarloaf Ski Club Scholarship Fund is requested for the cookout. Meet at the Jean Luce Timing Building at the base of Comp Hill at 11am. The Annual Dax Brown GS will be held on Sunday. Brown, a well-liked and gifted alpine racer, was a former student and athlete at Carrabassett Valley Academy.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a gigantic Fireworks show provided by the professionals from RS Fireworks. Watch the show from the Beach or head up stairs to the Widowmaker for the best view of the show on the mountain. Show starts at 7:15pm.

Celebrate Maine's skiiing history and heritage at this special holiday Fireside Chat with the Ski Museum of Maine and writer/researcher Scott Andrews. Andrews will be presenting "Schuss-Boom and Schuss-Bust: Maine Skiing's Fast-Paced Growth and Face-Plants, 1945-2009", a narrated digital slideshow with numerous photos of Sugarloaf. 28th Annual McKay/Waddle Scholarship Race

Named for Dan McKay and Mike Waddle, the McKay/Waddle Scholarship Race is back and raising scholarship money for young atheletes in the Sugarloaf region. In 2009, organizers raised over $3000! Join us this year on Comp Hill and help us break that number. The races will be followed by a BBQ at the Jean Luce Building. Stay tuned for more details.
